. but you start demographically looking at may, north carolina shows up in there, indiana shows up, you got nebraska. you got texas. that big chunk of delegates that still have to be awarded at the end of may. if santorum wins wisconsin, i think it's going to make romney getting to 1144 very difficult. probably still better than 50/50 chance. we talked about this last night but it is harder. that's why i say right now it is a one-state strategy for rick santorum. it is about wisconsin. >> rachel, given wisconsin's recent political history, what impact do you think that will have when they're choosing between what may cement like a hard-core conservati -- may seem like a hard-core conservative and mitt romney? >> it's hard to put scott walker and his travails in wisconsin on any sort of number line between rick santorum and mitt romney. i think that he wanted to be seen as more of a mitt romney and he's been seen as more of a rick santorum. >> republican voters there who in what they've wrought with walker, they kind of go, wait a minute, maybe i want someone who's a little more car

idea of candidates staying in, the republican media strategist for mitch daniels of indiana told me tonight if i were mitt romney i would be sending flowers to newt gingrich and say, please stay in, because you're going to prevent rick santorum from knocking me off. >> if you get any word of any communication between rick santorum and mitt romney, call us first. i feel like we all have eyes on that dynamic. >> what i'm hearing from the santorum campaign is trying to -- in their own way, ratchet up pressure on gingrich to get out, just in the way that the romney campaign would like santorum to get out. basically saying, newt gingrich needed to win second almost every place, and he's not going to do that, in addition to winning georgia. there isn't a path for newt gingrich to win the nomination, but newt gingrich is operating on his own clock, his own decision making, ego, ambition, his long term goal as a politician and as somebody in the private sector. not easy to see exactly what is going to make or who is going to make newt gingrich get out and make it easier for rick santorum. >
